I was invited to the opening of this year's most anticipated restaurant. Labarake took over the old fire station of the former Canadian Pacific Railway Angus Shops and converted into a modern and industrial ambiance while preserving the integrity of this historical building. Labarake is a resto-bar showcasing the unique flavours and quality of our local produces.

I had a foretaste of their menu in the form of amuse-bouches. And I was quite impressed on how good the food was on opening night. Each dish was kept simple and the flavours were perfectly balanced. Noteworthy dishes are the Angus beef tartare, the tuna lollipops and the brownies.

The Angus beef tartare was done to perfection, the way it should be prepared found in Parisien bistro. The beef is such high quality that all it needs is a pinch of salt, and paprika chips for added texture. The tuna lollipops are like one bite wonders - fresh, creamy, umami and sour. Finally, the chocolate brownie topped with a coffee chantilly cream and caramelized pecans will make you salivate and will make you want more. Chocolate, caramel and coffee are the perfect trio.

Labarake offers an open and friendly atmosphere to have drinks with friends and colleagues, while enjoying a dining experience full of flavours.
