Monkland is a street in NDG that I have not explored its food scene. Quite a few restaurants has generated a lot of buzz for a while. Prohibition is one of them. Their brunch is what diners mostly go for.

We ordered in total 3 dishes. The first is the challah French toast and fried chicken. One of their bestseller. It's an elevated interpretation of the southern classic - chicken and waffles. The French toast has a sweet crispy exterior with soft pillowy inside. The chicken has a well-seasoned crispy batter with the meat being juicy. Simply comforting.

The huevos rancheros is a comforting Mexican breakfast consists of flavour-packed black beans topped with a light refreshing guacamole and pico de gallo. Finally, the bulgarian benedict is a dish that we haven't seen in any brunch places. It consists of two poached eggs sat on a bed of thick garlicky yoghurt. It comes with crumbles of feta cheese that give a momentary burst of saltiness and paprika oil for some smokiness. Weird combination of flavours, but it works very well.

This place is always for full for brunch. I highly recommend reserving few days in advance. I'll definitely heading back soon to try out their other items.
